Classic Tracks: Cadillac Tah "Pov City Anthem"

Fresh for 2010, I'm back with another "Classic Tracks" post...

I'd completely forgot about this slept on banger, and after hearing that DJ Yasmin dropped this at BAD INTENTIONS last night, I had to dig this one out of the digital record box (i.e. use the search function on iTunes), and give it a listen. Needless to say, I'm gonna have to start playing this one out again...Such a heavy tune.

Some of you may also recognise this from the Fast & The Furious soundtrack, which also consisted of a few other dope tracks, such as this one:

Don't even try to deny this was a banger back in the day!

Dream Mclean, Siris & S Dot Samuel - Tim Westwood Freestyle (Video)

More heat from Dream McLean (also featuring Regime member Siris & S Dot Samuel), who recently passed though Westwood's show to spit a sick freestyle.

Keep your eyes peeled for some kind of collaboration soon...

Tempa T - Parrin' Man (Video)

Pure jokes!

Bun B "Pants On The Ground"

Inspired by General Larry Platt's musical masterpiece on American Idol, this is a bonus track off Bun B's "No Mixtape", produced by Double-O from Kidz In The Hall.

"No Mixtape" drops this Monday, with a hard copy supposedly dropping in LRG stores.

BONUS! Just in case you've missed out:

Sean Price "Figure Four" (Music Video)

Sean P finally drops the video for this, which originally leaked back in October.

Thank You, Native Instruments!

Massive thanks to Native Instruments for the hook up. I'm looking forward to getting to grips with this over the weekend.

Expect a video sometime soon!

Reflection Eternal - This Is 50 Interview (Video)

They re-introduce themselves, talk about their sounds and how they got into hip-hop. They speak on the relationship and how it is working together. They speak on contributing to Haiti, how important it is for an artist to be locked in with a producer & much more!

"Revolutions Per Minute" coming soon.

Ludacris Feat. Rick Ross & Twista "How Low" (Remix)

Heavy remix. Luda comes through with a sick new verse, whilst Twista absolutely smashes it.

"Battle Of The Sexes" drops March 16th.

Apple iPad (Video)

So Apple finally unveils the eagerly awaited iPad. At 64Gb, its going to cost approximately £500; Wi-Fi models shipping in March, and 3G models shipping in April.

Seeing as I already own a Blackberry (which is dying on me), an iPod Touch and a Macbook, I don't really have any need for the iPad. However it does look incredibly dope.

Smiler "Destroy & Rebuild"

Shouts to Luca for sending this though...

Going in over Nas' "Destroy & Rebuild", Smiler states that this isn't a diss track, it's a reflection of what the masses want to say, but don't...Although I'm sure this will cause a few disagreements...

Among those mentioned include Klashnekoff, Taskforce and Poisionous Poets. Smiler does say he has love for Poisionous and shouts out Stylah and Lowkey. He also makes reference to Pop/Grime artists, Wiley, Kano and Chipmunk...

Shouts to SBTV putting in the work.

Nike 2010 Spring Air Max 1 Preview

Latest Air Max 1 offerings from Nike, which are set to drop later this Spring. Continuing with the suede and mesh design, we're blessed with a set of fresh colourways, one of which looks fairly similar to the Uwara Reds Air Max 1 from 2004. I was a proud owner of a pair, until I made the mistake of wearing them to a nightclub.

Remember folks: Drink spillage x dirty dancefloor = ruined.

Objektiv One "Everywhere A Million" Routine (Video)

More MPC madness for you to check out. This time, it's from Objektiv One.

In his words:

This is a routine I have been working on for awhile! I flip this sample to death until I can’t flip it any more. From grimey, to spacey, from technical to banging. Its all fun and games. Enjoy.

Freeway & Jake One "The Stimulus Package" Packaging

Even though we're in a digital age, I still like to support an artist by purchasing his or her CD. For Freeway & Jake One's forthcoming album, Rhymesayers have gone all out for CD's packaging.

Designed by Brent Rollins, the package features a CD cover in the design of a wallet, containing 4 Freeway Bills & 4 Jake One Bills, which contain lyrics and liner notes on the backsides. The package also contains a credit card which enables you to download the Instrumentals. Seeing as fewer people are buying CDs these days, it's a great way to encourage fans to buy hard copies of the album.

US customers can pre-order the album here where they will be entered into a draw to win one of five $100 cash prizes, and also pick up some free goodies.

JME Feat. Wiley "Sidetracked" (Music Video)

height="340">

Forthcoming heat from JME, featuring Eski Boy. Grime is definitely on the rise for 2010.

Let's just hope Wiley doesn't get too sidetracked himself when it comes to turning up to shows this year.

Available to download from 21st February.

A-Trak x Drake x Birdman "Loonies To Blow"

A-Trak comes through with a tasty remix of Drake & Birdman's track, which is taken from Trizzy's forthcoming "Dirty South Dance Vol. 2" compilation.

For those not in the know (I only just found this out myself), a loonie is another word for a Canadian $1 coin, as it bears the Canadian loon bird on the reverse side.

Major Lazor "Pon De Floor" (Knicker Bocker Corey’s Drumsticks & Bashment Refix)

Shouts to my boy Knicker Bocker Corey (formerly DJ Stampeeder) who's put together this heavy jungle-influenced refix of Major Lazer's recent club banger.

Corey's also a resident for Bigger Than Barry, which is arguably one of the best club nights in the UK. If you like the refix, you can grab a 320 below:

Clipse "Freedom" (Music Video)

The only reason to watch E4's Misfits

Okay, so the plot is fairly entertaining too. 4 delinquents get struck by lightening in a weird storm. As a result, this gives them super powers, which range from invisibility, to being able to control time, and also mind-reading...

I've been catching up on the last couple of episodes on 4oD, and whilst the dialogue isn't the best in the world, it's a pretty good concept, with some funny moments here and there.

But yeh, it's all about Alisha Thomas.

Raekwon "Ice Cream" Original Sample

This interesting little video made it onto Youtube a few days ago, which finally shows us the original sample for Raekwon's classic joint "Ice Cream". The sample comes from Earl Klugh's "A Time For Love".

Via Hip Hop Is Read

DJ ZInc Feat. Ms. Dynamite "Wile Out" (Music Video)

Ms. Dynami-tee-hee is back with this club banger. Whilst I liked most of the material from "A Little Deeper", it was all about her early stuff from back in the day, such as "Booo!" & "Envy". She definitely kills it on faster tempos.

Fans of DJ Zinc may recognise the instrumental from his Crack House EP, which is now available from all good outlets.

BONUS! For those who don't know...

D. Julien – Fat Boy Radio Freestyle (Video)

It's been a while since I posted something from this dude. In this video he stops by Fat Boy Radio to kick a solid freestyle, all off the top of the dome, which seems to be a forgotten practice these days!

Ludacris "How Low" (Music Video)

Directed by Dave Meyers, featuring some...erm...impressive dance moves from the ladies (check it out @ 45 seconds in)...

This is the first official single from Luda's forthcoming "Battle Of The Sexes", which should be out in March.

P.S. The track also featured on my Hot 110 Podcast. If you like your Hip Hop, Grime & Dubstep, then check it out...

Stand Up Comedy Gone Wrong (Video)

This is so bad it's actually funny...

Angry American Idol Contestant (Video)

Why can't X-Factor be more like this show? Waitresses with amazing backoffs, crazy old dudes singing "Pants On The Ground", and weirdos such as this guy, who kicks off after being told he can't sing.

In the words of DJ Hotpoint, only in America...

Nike SB Dunk High “Lost Oceanic Airlines”

New for January 2010, Nike SB has released a dunk inspired by that puzzling TV show "Lost" (I gave up watching it after the first season). Sporting a colourway inspired by Oceanic Airlines, these are worth picking up.

Update: Following on from the Dunk High, they've also designed a Blazer High inspired by Lost’s DHARMA Initiative. The beige colorway matches that of the DHARMA uniforms, while the “SHOE” label appears on both the insole and heeltab, referring to the distribution of supplies on the island.

Both are available now at Premier Skateboarding

P.S. If anyone can explain the Lost plot to me, that'd be dope. After reading up about the series on Wikipedia, it's left me even more confused...

Rinse: 11 to be compiled by Oneman

Following on from Marcus Nasty, the latest DJ to undertake mixtape duties on the next Rinse mix CD is none other than one of my favourite selectors at the moment, Oneman.

Those expecting an epic selection of Old UK Garage bangers, however, will be disappointed.

Speaking to FACT Magazine, he says, "Yeah the opening tune on the mix is a bit of a statement from me. You gotta move forward though, this CD is a selection of what I like now. I don’t wanna get stuck as that guy that plays garage, I’m moving on.”

From the look of the tracklisting below, this is going to be a heavy release.

Oneman's Rinse: 11 CD should be in stores soon.

Serato Scratch Live 2.0 & "The Bridge" (Video)

This is very exciting. For me, I normally have to go back and forth between Scratch Live & Ableton when producing mixtapes, whichcan be a laborious task; but with "The Bridge" it looks like my prayers have been answered. I'm also looking forward to incorporating Ableton Live into my sets, and since I've now got to grips with Video SL, this can really open up some doors!

What's New in Serato Scratch Live 2:

• Control Ableton Live and make editable Mixtapes with "The Bridge".
• A choice of 2, 3 or 4 decks with supported Rane hardware.
• Built-in DJ FX with an assignable "Super Knob" for quick live tweaking.
• Brand new Display Modes with a range screen layouts to suit your style of performing.
• Enhanced Album Art browsing for quick identification of your music.
• Build "Smart Crates" easily using keywords from your music library.
• Export your track plays and share them online with "Serato Playlists"

However, Traktor Scratch have also been pushing the boundaries with their X1 controller; given some time they too could also come up with something very interesting...

Mystikal is out of Prison

Whilst I don't condone what he did to get locked up (not only was it fucked up, it was plain stupid), you have to admit that at his peak he had some silly club bangers.

I wonder how he'll cope if/when he decides to make a comeback. It's a very different game now.

R.I.P. Teddy Pendergass

I thought I had already posted this up...Looks like I saved it as a draft by accident. Apologies.

If you don't know, the dude was an R&B legend. He will be sadly missed. Thinking about it, I'm gonna have to include "Love TKO" on a mix sometime soon; such a classic track.

Grime mixes from Butterz & Terror Danjah

It certainly looks like 2010 is going to be a great year for UK music, in particular, the Grime scene. To kick things off, Elijah & Skilliam over at Butterz have put together a heavy mix of forthcoming and unreleased material from some of their favourite producers.

The mix is mainly on the instrumental flex, showcasing some great music from the likes of Rude Kid, Swindle, Joker & Starkey, as well as some forthcoming heat from the Butterz label. You can also download the mix here.

Tracklisting:

01. Swindle - Open Your Mind (Butterz)
02. Royal T - Hot Ones Remix (Unreleased)
03. Terror Danjah - Acid (Hyperdub)
04. Swindle - 'Trending Topic' (Butterz)
05. DVA feat P Money - Wind It Up (No Right Turn)
06. Rude Kid - Absolut Vodka (No Hats No Hoods)
07. DOK & Terror Danjah - Hysteria (Butterz)
08. Swindle - Air Miles (????)
09. Silencer - Miss Asia (Wow Bass Level 3)
10. Joker - Output 1-2 (Tectonic)
11. Rude Kid & Terror Danjah - The Best Crawler (No Hats No Hoods)
12. Tempa T - Boy Off The Ting (No Hats No Hoods)
13. Terror Danjah - Bipolar (Butterz)
14. OGZ - Hot Ones (Deeco Remix)
15. Maniac - Lengman Tune (Unreleased)
16. Terror Danjah - Sidechain (Swindle Remix) (Planet Mu)
17. SRC - Powerman 9 (Unreleased)
18. DOK - Keep Making Grime (Unreleased)

20. J Beatz - Life & Death (SCUK)
21. Terror Danjah - Air Bubble (Butterz)
22. Starkey - Ok Love (Planet Mu)
23. ????? - ?????? (Teaser)

And if that's not enough, Terror Danjah has also recently uploaded a sick mix, mainly consisting of his own productions; some of which are forthcoming on Hyperdub. No alternate download link I'm afraid, but don't let that put you off...it's a solid mix from start to finish.

Tracklisting:

01. Terror Danjah - Horror Story
02. Terror Danjah - Acid
03. Terror Danjah - Bipolar
04. Terror Danjah - Creepy Crawler (V.I.P 2010 Remix)

Terror Danjah's "Bipolar EP" is out later this month on Butterz, whilst "Gremlinz" is available from all good outlets.

Super Street Fighter 4 (Game Trailer)

This is definitely going on my video game shopping list.

Giggs Feat. B.O.B. "Don't Go There" (Music Video)

I'll admit, I thought after the hype surrounding the "Talkin The Hardest" freestyle had died down, and after "Slow Songs" had been rinsed on the airwaves, Giggs would be just another one hit wonder. How wrong was I?!

After listening to this a good few times, I can honestly say this is straight fire. The fact that he's also linked up rising US artist B.O.B. is a strong look. If his new material is anything like this, 2010 could be a very good year for Hollowman.

Clipse Feat. Black Thought "Popular Demand" (Live on Jimmy Fallon)

Black Thought kicks a dope verse.

The Cool Kids, Stalley & Ski Beatz "Do It Big" (Behind The Scenes)

As the title suggests, a behind the scenes look at a new collabo between The Cool Kids & Stalley. This sounds promising.

"When Fish Ride Bicycles" should hopefully be dropping later this year.

Ed West & Toxin "Ghetto Yute VIP"

Here's a nice little skankin' number from Pesky Plates to help warm those winter blues; it's a remix of a remix that On The Dub orginally released back in 2008.

Expect to hear some solid releases from this label in 2010.

DJ Q-Bert test runs the new "Trip Mats"

Some great footage of Q-Bert cutting it up fresh, using the new Trip Mats. Slightly thicker than the popular Butter Rug slipmats, they're designed more for beatjugglers and party rockers, giving the DJ a bit more grip when it comes to juggling.

From the look (and sound) of things, they seem to be on point. Gotta love that hypnotic design as well...

P.S. Apparently they've sold out. New designs should be available from Thudrumble.com soon.

JoJo Pellegrino Feat. Sean Price & Inspectah Deck "Triple Homicide"

Taken from JoJo Pellegrino's "Real Spit", which is due out soon. As usual, Sean P goes in hard over the track! Solid verse from Inspectah Deck too.

Air Jordan Fusion 8

For fusion/hybrid sneakers, these are pretty nice! Set to launch on February 6th (White x Red), and March 6th (Black x Aqua), the two original Air Jordan VIII colourways have been tastefully merged on to an Air Force 1 midsole.
