DJ Cable's Weekly Mix #23 (Download)

This week, I put together a few of the current club tracks that are making people's feet move on the dancefloor, added another cheeky blend, and threw in some IDM/Experimental from that Aphex Twin chap too...Random, but a good one!

As usual, stream/download via Zshare....

Tracklisting:

01. Snoop Dogg - Sensual Seduction
02. Beyonce - Beautiful Nightmare
03. Common Feat. Pharrell - Universal Mind Control
04. DJ Cable - Universal Milkshake
05. Kid Sister - Control
06. Aphex Twin - Windowlicker (Cable's Dancefloor Friendly Re-Edit)
07. Teriyaki Boyz Feat. Busta Rhymes & Pharrell - Zock On

For those wondering what I've done to 'Windowlicker'...The drums and the time signature switch up very randomly throughout the track. So to make my life easier I re-arranged/re-sequenced the drums for the intro, added a DJ-friendly 32 bar intro, and re-fixed the middle part/bridge...This way, you can boogie to it a lot easier too....

Any DJs wanting a copy - let me know and I'll email it over....

Enjoy!

P.S. Missed out on the previous weeks? Grab them all here.

Jay-Z @ Glastonbury (Youtube)

'Wow' is all I can say!

An outstanding performance - From his entrance with "Wonderwall" (take that Noel!), to flipping ACDC for "99 Problems", and using The Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up' for 'Is That Yo Bitch', and even spitting over 'American Boy', it was solid from start to finish.

Here are the videos:

My only criticisms are that he should have performed 'Roc Boys' instead of "I Know" - which wasn't the best track to perform that early on in the set, and it would have been nice to have heard something from the 'Reasonable Doubt' era (preferably "Can't Knock The Hustle")....Apart from that, it was a great look for Hip Hop, and definitely proved wrong the critics who said that the music has no place at Glasto....

In my eyes, Hova is THE G.O.A.T.

P.S. Jay, I just wish you had spat over "Pow!" as well dude!

Jay-Z On Jonathan Ross (Youtube)

Jonathan Ross had Hova & Will Smith on his show last night. Peep the interview, which covers things like Glastonbury, growing up in Bedstuy, and Damien Hirst. He even briefly talks about Beyonce....

Jay-Z has some good witty remarks in this too....

Sorry for the wait - you all probably thought I forgot, or had given up didn't you? Well, don't panic - Week 22's mix is finally here!

A-Trak 'Running Man: Nike+ Original Run' - Out Today!

So it's finally been released today. For those not in the know, A-Trak was asked by the powers that be at Nike to compose a 45 minute mix to accompany runners for when they, erm....go running! It's the fourth release in the Nike+ Original Run Series.

Considered to be Trizzy's debut release, this composition consists of a warm up section, moving into an extended, uptempo middle section, eventually going downtempo for that necessary cooling down period. 'Say Woah', will serve as the main single, offered exclusively from Nike Sport Music.

I've just purchased the mix from iTunes, and have to say it's very dope. Everything is blended/mixed seamlessly, taking you on an Electronic/Hip Hop musical journey, and he's worked hard to get the pacing right too, creating the perfect soundtrack for your workout. Fools Gold's Kid Cudi provides guest vocals too.

A-Trizzy joins previous contributors The Crystal Method, LCD Soundsystem and Aesop Rock as part of the buildup to The Nike+ Human Race, which is planned for 1st August.

Check out the 3 minute sampler here. Fiyah!

'Ultimate Breaks & Beats' Vol. 1-25 (Download!)

"Zoiks!"

After coming home from DJ-ing in Basildon (which was, erm....not that great tonight), and still being wide awake at 4am, I deicided to do what any normal human being would....search for Funk mp3s on Google.

2 minutes in, and I stumble upon this lovely piece of digital treasure - the COMPLETE (yep, all 25 volumes!) 'Ultimate Breaks & Beats' series on MP-thrizzy!

Anyhow - It's up in 3 parts on Megaupload & Zshare:

Click here for Part 1 - Artwork & Volume 1
Click here for Part 2 - Volumes 2-13
Click here for Part 3 - Volumes 14-25

According to The Essential Elements Blogspot (where I jacked this collection from), there are about 4 songs missing from volume 8, but hey, you're getting about 98% of the whole collection, along with all the artwork. How dope is that?!

This has made my month....Enjoy!

P.S. It's nearly 1GB's worth of digital goodness in total, so be patient with the downloading.

Lil Wayne 'Never Get It' (Prod. David Banner) (Download)

Yep, it's another Weezy joint....David Banner on production. Beat's quite hot....

Stream/Download here.

Your thoughts?

P.S. Weezy shifts 1 million units during the first week?!

Ahem....'A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE.......'

I don't think I'll ever get bored of that sample.

'Dark Knight' Medicom Toys

The annual Medicom Toy Exhibition is currently taking place at the Parco Factory in Japan. Spotted at the show were the Dark Knight Kubrick & Bearbrick sets, including a 400% & 100% 'Why So Serious' Bearbrick, Dark Knight Kubricks, and also 1/6 scale Christian Bale Bruce Wayne & Batman figures, and a Heath Ledger Joker figure.

That 400% Bearbrick is dope.

Nooka 'Glow In The Dark' Watch for Kanye West

To celebrate the successful run of Kanye's 'Glow In The Dark' tour (which also featured Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna & N.E.R.D.), Nooka produced a special glow in the dark model of their popular 'Zub' watch. Only 15 pieces were made - However, Nooka stated on their blog that they will be producing a limited run of these, which will be available to the public sometime in August.

They look near impossible to tell the time with, but hey, they look dope!

Dynamite MC - 'What!' (Download & Video)

This joint's hot! Loving the use of the Lil Jon samples. Beat's dope as well.

Only came across this on Kiss FM a few weeks back. Apparently Swerve's been on this track for a good few months....I really need to find the time to listen to the ol' wireless a bit more often.

You can grab the track for free from Dynamite MC's website.

Clipse - 'Fast Life' (Prod. Scott Storch) (Download)

EDIT! I Forgot the link....My bad! Cop the track here.

The supposedly lead single off the forthcoming Re-Up Gang album, produced by Scott Storch. It took me a couple of listens to get into, but it's still solid. Not as grimey as '9mm', which was a small shock to the system, but this'll do well on the radio and in the clubs.

Pusha & Malice still come correct with the lyrics though....

DJ Cable's Weekly Mix #21 (Download)

Once again, I'm back with another Weekly Mix....If you've missed out on any of the other weeks - Get them all here!

I've getting a bit of an earful recently for not doing enough mixes 'for the ladies'. So, being the thoughtful chap that I am, I dedicated this week's mix to the ladies by throwing together a collection of some of my favourite slow jams. Nothing too fancy, just some nice transitions here and there....

I didn't get the chance this time around to put in the obvious dope tracks from R. Kelly, Blackstreet, Keith Sweat etc - but rest assured, I'll be doing another one of these mixes real soon!

Anyhow, stream/download via the Zshare link and enjoy!

Tracklisting:

01. Ray J - One Wish
02. Aaliyah - Are You That Somebody
03. Destiny's Child - Say My Name
04. Usher - Confessions Pt. II
05. Mariah Carey - Shake It Off
06. Mary J. Blige - Be Without You
07. Pretty Ricky - Grind With Me

For those not in the know, the concepts behind these mixes are all the new Hip Hop tracks that have leaked online during the month, or are making noise in the clubs and on the radio - Definitely a lot of new heat in this one, including tracks from the new Lil Wayne album (I know its just dropped - this mix was recorded 2 weeks ago though lol!), new tracks from Lil Kim, Nas, Clipse, and some hot joints off the GTA IV soundtrack from Qadir & Uncle Murda, plus more!

'Duke Nukem Forever' Preview (Video)

After 12 years(!!!!!) of development, Jace Hall gives us a sneak preview of what 'Duke Nukem Forever' looks like.

I was a fan of 'Duke Nukem 3D', and have been waiting for this sequel since like, the dawn of time....It looks dope, so please just release the damn thing!

Nas Feat. Keri Hilson 'Hero" (Download)

Produced by Polow Da Don.

I'm feeling the synths on this...The track's got that 80's feel to it. Could be a half decent radio joint methinks.

Nike SB June 2008 releases

I used to love Nike SBs. Back when they brought out shoes like the 'Bisons', 'Unlucky 13s' & 'Homers' - right up until after they released the 'Tiffany' model they were dope.

Now most of them are either bland, uninspiring colourways, or just hideous monstrosities ('3 Bears Pack', anyone?).

The only dope shoe I've seen in the June 2008 release is this Blazer SB (European exclusive too).

Aurora Blue/Varsity Maize

Colors by Danijel Todorovic, Sam Barrat, and Dave Dixon

Luckliy, the Blazer isn't a shoe that Nike has done to death with a million and one colourways and materials (unlike the Dunk or the AF1). Hopefully it'll stay that way.

Hypebeast has the full list of June releases here.

I usually post up on a forum called Digital Vertigo. It's a pretty dope DJ/turntablism/music-based site, with the odd random/bizarre thread.

Each DJ recorded 5 minutes of audio and then passed it on to the next guy on the list to add their part. 61 minutes in total and featuring a mix of genres, from Hip Hop & R&B, to Electro, Downtempo, Baltimore, to even the fuckin' Tweenies!

DJ Cable's Weekly Mix #19 (Download)

19 weeks in and still going strong, yo!

This week, I decided to throw together something old, something new, something commercial, and something not so....erm....commercial. A varied mixture of Hip Hop, R&B & Electro up in there....

Again, you can stream online/download via Zshare here

Tracklisting:

01. Dizzee Rascal Feat. Calvin Harris - Dance With Me
02. N.E.R.D. - She Wants To Move
03. The Stone Roses - Fools Gold
04. Madonna Feat. Timbaland & Justin Timberlake - 4 Minutes (To Save The World)
05. Mr. Spastic - Net (Alf Alpha Club Remix)
06. Twista Feat. Pharrell - Give It Up
07. Newcleus - Jam On It

I wasn't really feeling the Madonna joint when I first heard it, but I have to say it's grown on me (mainly because of the beat, but yeh, it's not that bad!). In fact, I'd go as far as saying it makes my head nod a fair bit when I hear it...But I digress....

As usual, if you have any comments, or want to be kind enough to give some feedback, holla!

Also - If you've missed out on the previous 18 weeks' worth of free mixtape goodness, cop them all like Pokemons here

Play NES Games Online!

Hey blog readers - Remember the NES? Of course you do!

I remember I used to spend many an evening after school kicking it on Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Castlevania, Rad Racer, Batman, Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, Star Wars, and loads more. After getting rid of my NES ages ago, I decided to relive my youth and purchase one off Ebay a couple of years ago....Although it's now sat there gathering dust, as I've become addicted to GTA IV.

So anyhow, if you're bored at work, or don't own an actual NES (or an emulator), then head over to Nintendo8.com for some nostalgia. They've got a shitload of games to choose from.
