End of the Year: 2011
Another year over, another recap from yours truly! Keeping with last year's recap, I'll try and make this one short and sweet.
Most of my time this year was taken up with touring with Yasmin, DJ-ing all over the UK, as well as the odd gig abroad (shouts to Snowbombing). From playing at Glastonbury, to V Festival, SW4, Wireless, Belsonic, Wakestock, supporting Mac Miller, and countless other shows, I've definitely had fun playing to a whole range of crowds, and meeting some excellent people along the way.
As for club nights, I'd like to give a shout out to Shawn and Emily at Le Scratch and Supa Dupa Fly, Tim and Barry & Motive for the Just Jam and Overproof bookings, and to everyone else who's booked me to DJ this year.
Thanks to everyone who has been supporting the Triangulum releases too. Whilst it's been a slow start to the label this year (mainly due to tour commitments), 2012 will see more output from the likes of Teeza, SRC, Tanka, and more. Big up Fused Forces and DCult for supplying great music. Watch out for them too.
I've been able to produce guest mixes for the likes of Annie Mac, Annie Nightingale, CJ Beatz, labels such as Universal and Warner, and artists such as Dream McLean. Watch out for him in 2012, trust me.
Also, massive shouts to Sian Anderson for inviting me on to her Rinse FM show for a guest mix.
Lastly, I'd like to thank everyone who's taken the time to visit my blog, download a mix, come to a show, follow me on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. Whilst I can be a moody git online sometimes, your support is always welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks for all your support, and make sure you stick around in 2012.
Happy New Year. Big up.
P.S. RIP Heavy D, Steve Jobs, Joe Frazier, Amy Winehouse and Patrice O'Neal.

DJ Cable Vs. Denon MC3000 (Video)
...so the guys over at Denon Europe asked me to test out their new 2 channel MIDI controller, the MC3000, and put together a routine for their new promo video....
It's very much a live club set, which incorporates a bit of live remixing on the spot.
The routine starts with a mixtape-style intro over the (now-classic) Grime instrumental "Wooo Riddim".
I then build up a composition using a series of custom loops and one shots (some of which I've made myself), alongside a refix I've made of Roska's "Jackpot", and then mess about with the effects. After that, I then mix in the intro to Redlight's "Stupid", and trigger a bass sample (from that tune), manipulating it using the Filter LFO effect.
Main features covered include:
multi deck mixing
cue point juggling
group effects (assigning more than one deck to an effects group)
making use of the volume faders for all 4 decks
I hope you enjoy the video!

Logam "Your Mom Makes Dubstep"
This is genius...
"Is it just me or is the standard for what is considered to be "Dubstep" today just getting lower and lower and lower and lower on a daily basis? I mean seriously, I just heard some of the worst "Dubstep" I've ever heard and this dude or dudes have over 2000 followers. For my next Dub release I'm just going to set off a car alarm, record it, and put a beat behind it...oh and sample someone talking about hoes or drugs or hoes with drugs and then pitch it down and insert it right before the drop. 10,000 followers in one day. Guaranteed."

Master Of The Mix Season 2, Episode 1 (Video)
Master Of The Mix is back for its second season. Rater than pre-select a group of DJs to battle it out, they've held auditions this time around. Amongst those who auditioned include DJ P (1999 DMC US Finalist) and Total Eclipse of the X-Ecutioners.
I wouldn't be surprised if they both reach the final stage. They're sick.
Other things to note:
1) Amber Rose = peng.
2) Female DJ in the pink dress = peng.
3) Blatantly there needs to be a UK version.

DIY Analog Vinyl Sampling
This is a pretty novel idea...
Sectors from a vinyl record are cut and replaced by pieces with exact shape from other records. When played in a vinyl player the needle follows the grooves from both sectors creating sampled tunes or loops.

Star Wars x Burton Snowboards Preview
This coming season, Burton will feature custom Star Wars graphics on its latest range of snowboards.
Each board includes the Burton name in a special Star Wars font on the front and eight exclusive styles on the bottom. The collection includes movie favorites like Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Yoda and more.
Let's hope I can sort out a DJ booking at Snowbombing next year, just so I have an excuse to purchase one of these!

October = Guest Mix Month on Sub FM!
Due to my hectic schedule, I've decided to enlist the help of a few DJs on my Sub FM show this month.
Throughout October, I will be bringing you a guest mix each week on my show, showcasing up-and-coming DJs/producers, as well as some familiar faces within the Bass Music scene.
Tomorrow's show will have a guest mix from DJ Lungi Lee, who will be mixing up a selection of upfront Dubstep and Grime.
There will be more mixes to come from the likes of Blynk, Demon (Macabre Unit), T_! (Macabre Unit) and more!
ALSO: During October, my show will be going out at the earlier time of 6am to 8am GMT. If that's a little bit too early in the morning for you don't panic! You'll still be able to grab the mix via the blog, or by subscribing to the iTunes Podcast. All the recent shows will be added this coming week.

Nirvana - Live At The Paramount (1991)
To coincide with the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's legendary album Nevermind, VEVO have given fans a visual treat by uploading classic footage from the band's live performances, including their show at The Paramount from 1991.
The show is the only known Nirvana gig that was shot on 16mm film stock. Digitally re-mastered, a DVD of the concert also makes up part of the Super Deluxe 20th anniversary edition of Nevermind, which was released on September 26. The concert film will also be aired for a special 20th anniversary screening on October 31.
