D Double E "Street FIghter Riddim" (Music VIdeo)

Easily the biggest Grime tune of 2010. With an extra verse added, as well as some cheeky Street Fighter impressions (had to take out the original samples due to copyright, I assume), this has been smashing up raves all over the UK. Big up Swerve & Newham Generals!

Clipse x LA Leakers "Got It For Leaks" (Mixtape)

For those not in the know, the LA Leakers do a series of "audio boigraphy" mixtapes with certain artists, which is basically a look behind the scenes of what went on making certain records. With this project, they sat down with the Clipse and they gave the history on some of their biggest records.

It would have dope to have seen tracks such as The Funeral or Chinese New Year on there, but kudos for including Footsteps in the final tracklisting... That tune was slept on, in my opinion...

Caspa "Back For The First Time" (Video)

Caspa's back with what could be regarded as the summer Dubstep anthem. Released next month on his own Sub Soldiers imprint, and consisting of an epic trance-like synth (backed with Caspa's trademark growling bass) there's no doubt that it'll be tearing up dancefloors and radio sets throughout the rest of this year.

Admittedly, it may sound a tad formulaic, but on a loud system this bangs...

Ricky Powell "Rappin With The Rickster" (Trailer)

Just spotted this over at Nah Right.

Legendary Hip-Hop photographer (and “Fourth Beastie Boy”) Ricky Powell is releasing a DVD compilation of the greatest moments from his 90′s public access show "Rappin With The Rickster" next week.

Full info below:

Disc 1 features “The Best of Rappin’ With The Rickster (1990 – 1994)” – a collection of Ricky’s handpicked ‘best of’ moments of the show. As expected it’s full of celebrity appearances and interviews including: The Beastie Boys, Russell Simmons, Laurence Fishburne, Sofia Coppola, Spike Jonze, Sandra Bernahrd, Tone Loc, Cypress Hill, Run-D.M.C., Billy Preston, Kim Gordon & Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) and more !!

Also included on Disc 1, “Rickster Bouillabaisse” – a collection of snippets and antics starring Ricky Powell and a host of legendary figures and moments from the cable access show baring his name. Some of the highlights include: Eazy E, Beastie Boys, Beck, Q-Tip, SEEN, ZEPHYR, Bobbito Garcia, Everlast and more!

Disc 2 also features an updated version of Ricky’s cable access show. The unique “Rappin’ With The Rickster 2010” – a look at what Ricky has up his sleeve in 2010 and beyond. Celebrity guests include Dante Ross, DJ Eclipse, and Stay High 149.

The release date is set for July 27th, however you can pre-order the DVD from UGHH.com

Whilst my taste in music is really vaired, I eat, breathe and sleep Hip Hop music, so it's great to see that that a piece of Hip Hop history like this has been immortalised on DVD.

DJ Daddy's Money "Gamma Ray Gurl" (THUGSTEP)

Shouts to Khal for putting me on to this... Looks like the Thugstep bug has bitten a few more people recently!

Gucci makes good club records, but he sounds even better over Dubstep; and whilst I've got my own Freaky Girl blend that should be featuring on the forthcoming Fuck Thugstep Vol. 2, I thought I'd show some love and post this up on here, as it's a pretty dope blend.

Gamma Ray Gurl (Gucci Mane vs. Downlink) by Daddy's Money

Big up DJ Daddy's Money on this one!

Retiring from DJ Battles...

Just a quick post to say that as of today, I'll no longer be participating in any more solo/head to head battles.

I believe my time as a battle DJ has come and gone, and as each year passes, it's becoming increasingly difficult to feel inspired to put new routines together. Apart from having to press shit up and spend countless hours programming routines to work exactly how I want them to (more or less doing to work for you, as some certain DJs have shown), there are hardly any good records/battle breaks out there to flip, and as a result, I've lost all enthusiasm for sitting down and coming up with new stuff.

There comes a time when you just need to walk away from things...

I'll still be doing the teams category though, and will also come to the DMCs as a spectator in the future, so I won't be disappearing just yet.

Dream McLean "Saxon Freestyle" CDQ

Forget Nicki Minaj's shit attempt, it's all about this version...

I got sent this back in May, and was told by Dream to keep it under wraps... It recently got a spin on Mistajam's show on BBC 1Xtra, and seeing as Team Supreme have liberated it, I guess it's now cool to post it on here...

DOWNLOAD

Nothing much to say except dude flows effortlessly over Chase & Status' anthem, throwing in some very dope punchlines...Sick...

D Double E "Street Fighter Riddim" Artwork

One of the best Grime tracks of 2010 finally sees a release on 26th July.

For the official release, D Double E has added an extra verse, and has done most of the Street Fighter noises/ad-libs himself (copyright issues, I assume). Big up to DJ Swerve for creating one of the hottest beats this year.
