Mad Decent Mondays: THUGSTEP Summit with DJ Nappy

Mad Decent Mondays has DJ Nappy touching down in Philly at Fluid on Monday, June 20th for the night they've called the THUGSTEP Summit. Nappy is their special guest, and will be featured alongside host MC Buddy Leezle, Dr. Ew of the Future Thugs camp, and the Mad Decent Mondays resident DJs.

Considering how long it's been since he's been sorting these refixes, and how the sound of Hip-Hop and Dubstep has come together in varying pockets of the world, this is a massive look. Big up DJ Nappy!

If you're in Philly Monday night, you should check it out.

Sukh Knight Vs. Three 6 Mafia "Rather Get Some Head" (DJ Cable Refix)

I've been sitting on this blend for a minute, so I thought I'd finally upload it, and create some visuals too.

Download the audio HERE if you're feeling it.

Joker Vs. Slim Thug - 3 Kings Vision (Thugstep Refix)

Just cooked up a new Thugstep blend, using Joker's latest club banger.

Seeing as Ableton Live 8 also supports video, I decided to make a music video to accompany it. Enjoy!

P.S. Download to come soon!

P Money "Bass Cannon Freestyle"

"MCs can't damage my tunes/the only person that can scratch my tune is Cable"

P Money takes Flux Pavilion's Brostep Dubstep hit, makes it 100x better, and gives me a shoutout on the tune too.

Stunna Mane "From Mississippi To Mars" (Mixed by DJ Cable)

It's been a while since I hit you with something Thugstep-related, so here goes.

The seeds for this tape were planted early December of 2010, with a phone convo between DJ Nappy and Stunna Mane. A mutual respect for the hustle was formed, and a tentative release of "NBA All-Star Weekend 2011" was discussed.

What started out as a four-track remix EP turned into a full Thugstep album, with DJ Nappy, myself, and DJ Hipnotikk digging into our digital crates and crafting some dubstep refixes to Stunna's acapellas.

The fact that an actual artist wanted us to make a refix album/mixtape says a lot. Massive shouts to everyone who has supported the Thugstep movement so far... It can only get bigger and better from here. Enjoy!

Che Grand x Joker "Gully Brook Lane Bad Man"

Been meaning to post this for a few days...

Apparently Che Grand got hooked on Joker's tunes after hearing Elucid's My Mayor Is A Billionaire (taken from his Sub Bass Diet LP) a while back. It's great to see more US-based artists embracing Dubstep, and spitting proper verses!

Taken from from his upcoming project ZFTP VIII: Uche The Great.

Taken from the the Labwerx 12-hour takeover of WUOG 90.5 last Saturday, this mix contains a bunch of nice, rowdy jump up Dubstep for your ears... Turn this up loud and wake the neighbours.

Diplo Feat. Lil Jon "U Don't Like Me" (HOODLUM Refixes)

Most of you are aware that I make these Thugstep blends, and after speaking to DJ Nappy and DJ Hypnotikk, it was only right that joined forces to give you more of the same refixes that have tearing down the clubs - HOODLUM Music.

Our first installment of free refixes comes in the form of Diplo & Lil Jon's U Don't Like Me, which sees us each flipping Lil Jon's acapella over a variety of beats, from 16Bit to Rude Kid. To top things off, we got MCs Chose and RTKal to go in over the Diplo instrumental.

DJ Cable Vs. JME, Tempz & Noah D "CD Is Seeeriousssly Dead" (Preview)

Following DJ Nappy's recent return to the DJ-ing, and all things Thugsteppery, I thought I'd give you lot a little taster as to what to expect from the forthcoming Fuck Thugstep Vol. 2 mixtape from myself & Rock The Dub – This blend sees JME & Tempz go over Noah D’s Dubstep anthem from last year…

The mix should be out next month; you can expect the usual hybrid of Dirty South & Grime acapellas over Dubstep, plus some exclusive stuff too!

P.S. If you haven't already peeped Vol. 1, do so now!

BONUS! Lil Jon Feat. Ice Cub Vs. Rusko "Roll Call" DJ Nappy THUGSTEP Refix)

DJ Daddy's Money "Gamma Ray Gurl" (THUGSTEP)

Shouts to Khal for putting me on to this... Looks like the Thugstep bug has bitten a few more people recently!

Gucci makes good club records, but he sounds even better over Dubstep; and whilst I've got my own Freaky Girl blend that should be featuring on the forthcoming Fuck Thugstep Vol. 2, I thought I'd show some love and post this up on here, as it's a pretty dope blend.

Gamma Ray Gurl (Gucci Mane vs. Downlink) by Daddy's Money

Big up DJ Daddy's Money on this one!

Dream McLean "Saxon Freestyle" CDQ

Forget Nicki Minaj's shit attempt, it's all about this version...

I got sent this back in May, and was told by Dream to keep it under wraps... It recently got a spin on Mistajam's show on BBC 1Xtra, and seeing as Team Supreme have liberated it, I guess it's now cool to post it on here...

DOWNLOAD

Nothing much to say except dude flows effortlessly over Chase & Status' anthem, throwing in some very dope punchlines...Sick...

DJ Cable Vs. Joker & Ginz Vs. Three 6 Mafia "Stay Fly in Purple City" (Thugstep Quick Hitter)

It's been a while wince I posted another Thugstep blend. Massive thanks to everyone who's been supporting them, whether it's playing them at raves, on radio, or on you iPods... It means a lot.

DOWNLOAD

This was originally done as a mashup for my BBC 1Xtra Guest Mix for Mistajam back in February. I figured that it worked so well, I though I'd make it into a proper blend. I've called it a quick hitter as it's only the first verse and chorus; the reason being that the rest of the acapella doesn't fit so well with the whole tune. Also, like myself, most DJs like to mix quickly, so it's always nice to have something short and sweet with a clean intro and outro.

Let me know what you think!

P.S. This will also feature on "Fuck Thugstep Vol. 2", which is coming soon!

I'm off to China next week....

16th April @ The Boat, Beijing

17th April @ Club Sin, Shanghai

DJ Cable Vs. Ludacris & Starkey "How Low, Luv? (THUGSTEP Blend)

It's about time I hit you with another Thugstep blend. You may recognise this one from my January Podcast; imo it worked so well, that I decided to make a full blend out of it. Fully tagged, encoded at 320kbps...Vocals kick in after 32 bars, giving you a chance to mix/double drop properly.

DOWNLOAD: Dirty / Clean

As the acapella didn't come with a chorus, I had to make one using a section of the first verse. Turned out pretty well!

DJ Cable Vs. Mark Pritchard & Dem Franchize Boyz "Wind It Up & Lean Wit It"

It's about time I unleashed yet another blend/mashup for your listening pleasure...And what better than some good ol' THUGSTEP?

If you remember "Fuck Thugstep Vol. 1", then you'll know this was made as an exlcusive blend for Ego Thieves & Rock The Dub. However, due to the amount of people asking for it, I thought I'd be kind and post it up here as a free download.

Enjoy!

DJ Cable x Rock The Dub x Ego Thieves "Fuck Thugstep Vol. 1"

It’s about time I hit you with another mixtape. Rock The Dub has been pivotal in both pushing the Thugstep sound, and inspiring DJs such as myself to get involved, so it was only right that we teamed up to put out a mix for the end of 2009. Things got even better when Jenai over at Ego Thieves got involved (props for the artwork!).

The end result? A heavy mix of Dubstep/Grime/Crunk, with some exclusive refixes, as well as the ones you know and love...

Whether you love it or hate it, THUGSTEP is here to stay. Forgive me if I sound big headed, but I’ve seen the damage that it can do in rave; and with numerous DJs across the London scene and the UK supporting my blends, it’s great to see people embrace this type of sound. I'm sure DJ Nappy would be proud.

Download the mixtape HERE, turn your speakers up, and throw some bows in your living room...
