Coldcut "Say Kids What Time Is It?"

The first single on Coldcut's Ninja Tune imprint was the cut-and-paste masterpiece, "Say Kids What Time Is It?"

It dropped on the 1st of February in 1987, and turned 25 years old yesterday. Those kinds folks at Ninja Tune have made this long-deleted white label available for free download.

Sukh Knight Vs. Three 6 Mafia "Rather Get Some Head" (DJ Cable Refix)

I've been sitting on this blend for a minute, so I thought I'd finally upload it, and create some visuals too.

Download the audio HERE if you're feeling it.

Joker Vs. Slim Thug - 3 Kings Vision (Thugstep Refix)

Just cooked up a new Thugstep blend, using Joker's latest club banger.

Seeing as Ableton Live 8 also supports video, I decided to make a music video to accompany it. Enjoy!

P.S. Download to come soon!

A-Trak "Dirty South Dance 2" (Mixtape)

After much anticipation, A-Trak is back with the second installment of his "Dirty South Dance" series. For those not in the know, it's essentially Dirty South acapellas over Electro/Club music - done very well, may I add! Standout tracks include "Loonies To Blow", "Make The Trap Wile Out" and "Ice Cream On Blast". Nice to see Trizzy also rocking acapellas over Dubstep too!

For the die-hard collectors, he's also teaming up with Obey again to make a deluxe pack that includes a poster, T-shirt and physical CD, which should drop in about three weeks. Until then, you can download the mix for free by using the Bandcamp widget below.

Phil Collins vs Tempa T - Easy Lover Hype (JuxtaPoser's "Not Another Next Hype Blend" Edit)

You would have to have been living under a rock to have missed out on Tempa T's 2009 anthem "Next Hype"; the biggest Grime track of last year you will no doubt have heard Tempz' bars over more or less every dubstep beat imaginable. A special mention must of course go to DJ Cable himself for creating one of my personal favourite blends, Mr Muscle's Hype, right up there with Plastician's mashup of Next Hype and Re Up.

Anyway, I realised the other day that I couldn't really remember the last time I went to a rave without hearing Next Hype at some point and as great as it sounds over a disgusting dubstep beat, it could sound even better over some 1980s rock guitars, courtesy of Phil Collins. Enjoy!

DJ Cable Vs. Ludacris & Starkey "How Low, Luv? (THUGSTEP Blend)

It's about time I hit you with another Thugstep blend. You may recognise this one from my January Podcast; imo it worked so well, that I decided to make a full blend out of it. Fully tagged, encoded at 320kbps...Vocals kick in after 32 bars, giving you a chance to mix/double drop properly.

As the acapella didn't come with a chorus, I had to make one using a section of the first verse. Turned out pretty well!

POW! LCR Takeover with Jaguar Skills

This Thursday, one of my favourite club nights, POW! is taking over Norwich's LCR for a heavy event, starring Radio 1 mashup king Jaguar Skills. I'll be there alongside DJ Hotpoint, throwing down a mixture of Hip Hop/Grime/Dubstep, and some Peruvian Panpipe music. Okay maybe not.

More details/full lineup below. Or click here for the Facebook link.

DJ Cable Vs. Mark Pritchard & Dem Franchize Boyz "Wind It Up & Lean Wit It"

It's about time I unleashed yet another blend/mashup for your listening pleasure...And what better than some good ol' THUGSTEP?

If you remember "Fuck Thugstep Vol. 1", then you'll know this was made as an exlcusive blend for Ego Thieves & Rock The Dub. However, due to the amount of people asking for it, I thought I'd be kind and post it up here as a free download.

Eartha Kitt x DJ Cable "Santa Baby (Bishy Bashy Re-edit)

'Tis the season to make another silly mashup/re-edit...

If you remember last year, I posted up a quick Bmore edit of Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree", which, even though wasn't the best of mixdowns, seemed to go down well with the internets.

After being dared by a few people to come up with another refix, I decided to step up to the challenge and put Eartha Kitt's Christmas classic over the Unfinished Business Riddim. Sounds ridiculous, right? Well, it kinda worked out okay! Maybe you can incite some season daggering action if you drop this mid set...

Oh, and if you're looking for something quirky for your iPod/iPhone over the next few days, here's my Christmas mix from last year's Weekly Mix series:

Daft Punk vs Kanye West - Kanye Interrupts One More Time (JuxtaPoser Party Bomb)

So, I'm assuming that everyone who has access to a computer has seen Kanye's VMA outburst by now, and probably the internet meme phenomenon that it spawned. In fact, if you look a couple of posts back down this blog you'll see a flyer and poster design for POW! featuring this world famous image. Interestingly enough, Mr West himself has seen that poster, having been texted a photo of it by Mr Hudson on thursday night. Small world.

Anyway, back in the immediate aftermath of the VMA incident I made a cheeky little bootleg mashup of Kanye's interruption speech primarily for my set up in Birmingham on the Mainstage @ Student Block Party last month. It went off then and its been well received by most dancefloors since. This is one of a number of exclusive edits that I've thrown together for my sets that I wasn't planning on sharing online but I dropped it last night at POW! and Cable insisted I put it up on here.

Bloc Party vs The Killers - Banquet For Mr Brightside (JuxtaPoser Mashup)

I just finished knocking together a quick video for a new mashup I've produced, sampling Bloc Party's "Banquet" and The Killers classic, "Mr Brightside". The idea was to create something for a mainstream/indie student dancefloor and I think the result's alright. Check out the video on youtube:

Dizzee Rascal - Holiday Lover

Spotted this mashup on Hypemachine and was curious to see what it was. As it turns out, its a mashup of Dizzee's latest joint with Calvin Harris, "Holiday" and Prince's first chart success, "I Wanna Be Your Lover". The result is a 7+ minute funky, retro track which is actually a refreshing change from the original which is being drilled into my head by Radio 1, Kiss FM and far too many club DJs.

Cop it here and have a listen for yourself :)

DJ Cable Vs. Skream & Mike Jones "Still Tippin On The Request Line"

So for 2009, I'll be putting blends/mashups/refixes together on a fairly regular basis for your listening pleasure, or to use during DJ sets, or on mixshows (just as long as Cable gets credit!). I've already leaked a couple, which I'll post up later this week.

In the meantime, here's a little Dubstep/Thugstep mashup between Skream's "Midnight Request Line" & Mike Jones' "Still Tippin". If you're wondering what "Thugstep" is, and how it originated, it was brought to life by DJ Nappy

Anyhow...Sit back, download, turn it up and zone out.
