DJ Cable's Weekly Mix #14 (Download)

Yep yep, here's the 14th(!) installment of my Weekly Mini Mixes for you all....If you've missed out on any previous mixes - They can all be found here.

Anyhow - A few of you may know that I originally started off spinning Drum & Bass when I first got turntables....so for this week, I decided to go back to my roots and throw some D&B joints together.

As usual, stream/download via Zshare

Tracklisting:

01. Die & Clipz - Number One
02. Keaton & Hive - Bring It On
03. Jaydan - After Dark
04. Lynx - Distance Zero
05. Chase & Status - Hurt You
06. Clipz - Ugly
07. Utah Saints - Something Good '08 (High Contrast Remix)

BONUS! I have yet another refix for you all....If you listen to BBC 1Xtra then you may have heard Mistajam's rather excellent 'Night Time Soulja', where he's taken the existing Soulja Boy track, and put a Benga & Coki loop behind it.

I decided to expand on that, add a DJ friendly intro, chopped up some vocals and cut from the original track to the 'Night' instrumental....I've been sitting on this for a few months now, but thought I'd might as well share it with you....I must also stress as well that Mistajam came up with the idea first (Cable & biting doesn't mix!) - So, here's my take on Mistajam's already dope blend record:

Mistajam - 'Night Time Soulja' (DJ Cable Refix)

The black/white upper features a clear Swoosh and herringbone like materials along the side and toebox. Estimated release date is June 7th, in time for Father's Day approximately a week later.'

Somehow, I don't think I can see my Dad rocking a pair of these....More sneakers for Cable!

Stussy x Eric Elms Tees

Liking this collaboration between Stussy and Eric Elms, who's previously worked with Nike, Obey & Supreme. The tees use graphics to make up statements. The maze pattern on the 'Whatever It Takes' tee is pretty dope.

Cop them now from Stussy Direct.

Noel Gallagher blames Jay-Z for lack of Glastonbury ticket sales

Interesting article taken from the Guardian Newspaper.

Personally, I think it's a good look having someone like Jay-Z headline Glastonbury - He's a Hip Hop icon, has collaborated with Linkin Park & Amy Winehouse, and has crossover appeal. It's also worth noting that Hip Hop & Rock have gone hand in hand ever since 'Walk This Way'....Plus, the festival's had acts such as the Chemical Brothers, Kylie Minogue & Moby, which shows that Glastonbury is quite varied - unlike Gallagher who still thinks that Glastonbury 'has a tradition of guitar music'.

Oasis should really stop whining, go back into the lab and make something that doesn't sound like every single record they put out - I mean, their last good album came out back in '97....Fix up Noel!

Lil Wayne - 'Tha Carter III' LEAK! (Download)

DJ Cable's Weekly Mix #12 (Download)

Yep, It's that time again!

For this week's mix - I thought I'd throw together a bit of R&B, Hip Hop & Grime. Due to supporting Twista the other week, and being impressed with his show, I decicded to rock a few joints that contained some of his best guest verses (in my opinion!)...Some nice throwback jams in there too....

Tracklisting:

01. Trina Feat. Ludacris - B R Right
02. Ginuwine - Pony
03. Jay-Z Feat. Twista & Missy Elliot - Is That Yo Bitch?
04. Roll Deep - Badman
05. Skepta Feat. President, JME, Friscoe, Dan, Scorcher, Bossman, Cell 22, Dimples & Danny B - Private Caller
06. David Banner Feat. Twista & Busta Rhymes - Like A Pimp (Remix)
07. Trick Daddy Feat. Lil Jon & Twista - Let's Go

As usual, stream/download

If you've missed out on the previous 11 weeks (I hope not!), cop them all here.

Bonus Track! I've also got another Refix for you all to check out here

Lil Scrappy Feat. Young Buck - Money In The Shattered Bank (Cable Vs. Coki Thugstep Refix)

For those not in the know, 'Thugstep' is Dubstep laced with Crunk acapellas. I got put on to the sub-genre by stumbling across DJ Nappy about a year ago.

Thoughts? Comments? Feedback? Holla....

Lil Wayne - 'Lollipop' (DJ B-Stee Remix) (Download)

Heard 'Lollipop'? It's dope isn't it?

DJ B-Stee gives it the Baltimore Club treatment on this remix. Love the way he's doubled up the synth on this in some parts....

Grab it here.

Ego Trip's 'Miss Rap Supreme' Trailer (Youtube)

Remember Ego Trip's The White Rapper Show with MC Serch? Well, they're back at it again with 'Miss Rap Supreme' - an all female reality rap show....

By the looks of things, it should be a laugh.

I'm hoping they get both Kool Keith & Bushwick Bill again for another guest spot....

Uniqlo UT x Sega Tribute Tees

They recently opened up a whole bunch of Uniqlo stores (well, ok about 6 months ago) on Oxford Street - It kinda struck me as being a Japanese version of H&M (cheap, affordable mass produced garms that are supposed to come across as being 'cool' at the same time). H&M stuff also used to shrink down to minature proportions after a couple of washes too - but I digress....

Anyhow - I'm not really one for gimmicky t-shirts, but this collabo with Uniqlo and Sega is actually not that bad! They come a in variety of colours and feature characters from House of the Dead, Virtua Fighter....and that blue hedgehog.

Currently available from the Japan Webstore for 1,500 Yen - no word on whether they'll see a European release. If they do - expect to see nearly every hipster/indie kid in the West end rocking one.

SEGAAAAAAAAAAAA....

5th Flow - 'Quarter To A Half' Mixtape (Review & Download)

Props to J Clay from 5th Flow for hitting me up with their new mixtape, 'Quarter To A Half'.

I've had a quick listen, and gotta say that it's straight heat. Standout tracks include their version of 'Dey Know' (titled 'In This'), 'Simple As That', 'California Dreamin', 'They Callin My Name' & 'Slow Down'. Rappers should take a leaf out of their book for delivery and flow....

A bit of background info: Representing H-Town and Pink Slip Records they've sold over 100k mixtapes worldwide, supported artists such as Lil Jon, Trina, Ying Yang Twins, and the late great Pimp C (R.I.P.), have featured on over 20 different mixtapes in the past 2 months, and have received airplay in Chi-Town, Fort Worth, North Carolina, Toronto & L.A.

I for one will be spinning their ish on my mixshow real soon.

Cop the mixtape here.

The Cool Kids - 'Black Mags Remix' (Youtube)

The Cool Kids are killing it right now in Hip Hop - They bring freshness to the game....something that's been needed for a long time now....

Peep this live performance of the 'Black Mags' Remix featuring Werdplay at S.O.B's.

Mondays......oh, and some music too....

Wow, only 2pm GMT....Mondays sure drag on....

Had to take my car to the local Honda dealer to sort out my wing mirror, after some degenerate decided to kick it off the other week. Thanks for that....

Last week was nice and warm. I actually managed to rock a T-shirt over here and not get cold....and then it snowed yesterday and has done for most of today.....isn't the UK wonderful?

Also, that Akai MPD32 isn't out until the end of the month - Crap....

Apart from that, It's looking to be a dope month for music. My boy Khal from Rock The Dub put up a whole heap of goodies on Friday for you to check out. I'm not going to list them individually because it'll take me till next week, but you can grab them all here.

Weekly Mix will be up soon though - hold tight!

Akai MPD32

Akai just released their latest Midi controller over here in En-ger-land...

EDIT: Scrub that, you'll have to wait another 3-4 weeks....

Just ordered mine today, and I gotta say it looks like a lovely piece of kit. I've been wanting to use a Midi controller with Serato Scratch Live as well as Ableton to make my DJ sets a little bit more interesting for some time now, and after doing a bit of research, opted to wait for this to be released. I'll be able to assign/control a variety of things such as cue points, loops, load/unload deck, pitch bend, etc - all without touching my laptop. It'll serve me well at venues where I'm not able to use a TTM57.

One of the great things about this controller is the note repeat function, which is found on the MPC units. On top of that, you have 3 banks for each of the 8 faders and 8 rotaries, and 4 banks for the pads. That's a lot of Midi-assignage....

I'll post up some pics/videos as soon as Mr. Postman delivers it....

Nike SB "Michelangelo" Dunk Lo & Reebok Elephant Pack

Oh boy, oh boy!

I actually went out and bought a pair of Court Victory pumps last weekend (mainly due to the fact that I was never allowed a pair as a kid - Mum thought they were bad for your feet?!), but this new pack from Reebok makes me want to part with even more of my hard earned cash....The elephant print treatment (mainly associated with the Air Jordan III) has also been given to the Pump Omni Lite & the Ventilator models....

Available now at select Reebok dealers....

Moving on swiftly - I kinda gave up on Nike SBs when they started doing silly shit like the "3 Bears" pack, and the "Taxi" series. But this sneak preview of what's to come this year may put my faith back in them....

Supposedly inspired by the TMNT character - no word on a release date as of yet.

Cowabunga dudes....

Bobby Valentino in Colchester this Saturday (5th April)

Yep, it's official....Bobby Valentino will be performing at Route Nightclub in Colchester, Essex (UK) this coming Saturday....Best get there early, as it's most likely gonna be full up with screaming Essex girls....

With support from yours truly and the usual residents....

Kanye West Feat. Chris Martin - "Homecoming" Music Video

Official video for "Homecoming". I Preferred the "Good Life" video, even if it's just for checking out Angel Lola Luv....Anyhow, nice to see Common making a cameo appearance.

Seems Kanyeezy & Lil Weezy are running this rap ish for 2008....

G-Unit - "I Like The Way She Do It" (Download)

The 1st official single off the new G-Unit album. Well worth a listen - this beat knocks....

Dirty version, with No DJ drops....
