Paul Mayhinney is the founder and keeper of Record-Rama, the world’s largest record collection. Having begun his collection in the early 1950s, Mayhinney then started a business after amassing numerous thousands of records, and also commenced cataloging every passing record in a historically invaluable archive. This business thrived up until the turn of the millennium, when record prices lost almost all competitive leverage to CDs and MP3s. Record-Rama shut its doors in 2008 during the global credit crunch for lack of consumer or archival interest. While Mayhinney rues how technological advancements have combined to erode the value of his passion’s work, he diligently continues to seek fund-raising options and a worthy buyer here."
