Crooked I "Sittin' Sidewayz Freestyle"

Crooked I goes in over Paul Wall's 2005 anthem. That beat still sounds fresh even after 5 years...

Tempa T "Chattin Shit" (Music Video)

Another quality slice of angry music from Tempz, who goes in over Silencer's "World War 4" beat. I will never get bored of listening to him rap about slapping up man (pause) and ringing off da ting.

Rob Sparx "Arcade"

Loving this tune right now. I'm a sucker for 8-Bit synths and video game samples...

The thing I like about Rob Sparx is his versatility as a producer. Not only can he make wonky retro-sounding joints such as this, he's also just as comfortable making jump up tunes like "Attack Of The Wobble", or slightly deeper, spacier cuts like "Fully Booked" or "Going Back".

Expect to hear "Arcade" on March's Podcast, which will be dropping within the next few days...

Free tunes from Take

The weather here in the UK isn't saying much, so here's some free music from LA-based producer Take to put you in the mood spring (if it comes along).

Taken from his debut LP "Only Mountain", which is set to drop in April on Alpha Pup, "Incredibright" is a great slice of laid back, synth-driven Dubstep, whilst "Neon Beams" is more on the Hip Hop/Electronica tip, with dreamy-sounding synths and funky bassline. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Flying Lotus, Mr. Dibiase and those cats..

Take "Neon Beams"
Take "Incredibright"

Enjoy.

A Conversation With A-Trak (Video)

Great little interview with A-Trak, who talks about the exploding Electro scene as well as his DJ career...

I gotta co-sign his comment about coming with something original. These days, too many DJs are looking to their idols and biting their style, or simply cashing in on the latest trend...

DJ Fresh "Fight"

Here's a preview of a Dubstep tune that Fresh has completed for his forthcoming album, "Kryptonite".

Although some of these Jump Up tunes are all starting to sound pretty similar now, this tune is bound to destroy the dancefloor...

Phil Collins vs Tempa T - Easy Lover Hype (JuxtaPoser's "Not Another Next Hype Blend" Edit)

You would have to have been living under a rock to have missed out on Tempa T's 2009 anthem "Next Hype"; the biggest Grime track of last year you will no doubt have heard Tempz' bars over more or less every dubstep beat imaginable. A special mention must of course go to DJ Cable himself for creating one of my personal favourite blends, Mr Muscle's Hype, right up there with Plastician's mashup of Next Hype and Re Up.

Anyway, I realised the other day that I couldn't really remember the last time I went to a rave without hearing Next Hype at some point and as great as it sounds over a disgusting dubstep beat, it could sound even better over some 1980s rock guitars, courtesy of Phil Collins. Enjoy!

Richy Pitch Feat. M.anifest "Blackstar" (Music Video)

Wonky Hip Hop x video game music FTW.

For now, here's quick thing I threw together in a week (7 days for real). The tapes called 'Jack Bauer' and I named it that because I felt like Jack from '24' working to a deadline to get this shit done ever since I opened my big fuckin' mouth and said that I could do it. Rolex 2010 Explorer

Rolex updates its Explorer model for 2010, which was recently unveiled at the watch-centric tradeshow, Baselworld. With a trend towards larger and larger cases, the Explorer gains an extra 3mm to bring the overall size to 39mm all while incorporating a new polished finish to the dial’s numbers.

I'm not one to rock flashy watches (dun know the casio), but given the cash, I'd grab one of these for sure...

10 Deep 2010 Spring/Summer Lookbook

10 Deep unveils their new Spring/Summer collection for 2010, which contains some nice pieces, including hoods, shirts, and crew necks. You can view the lookbook here

The blurb:

'This Spring, 10.Deep continues its exploration of American dis-establishment via an homage to the malcontents who tossed up a middle finger to the establishment when the status quo was not in the peoples best interest. Motivated by both the symbols of statehood and those that rebelled against them, the collection is as much about the regal positioning of the President as it is about the anger of the wingtip tossing agitator. Employing everything from experimental vintage manufacturing techniques to classic readings of resistance, the collection drives home a message of support for those who disrupt the unfavorable normalcy – “Be Proud To Be A Problem”.'

Playstation "Move"

Following in the footsteps of the Nintendo Wii, it looks like Sony are ready to tap into the motion controller market. Comprising of 1 main controller (which looks similar to Nintendo's in terms of layout and style), and a sub-controller that is to be used for intuitive navigation of in-game characters and objects, this will deliver an innovative and immersive gaming experience for PS3 owners.

The blurb:

The combination of the PS3 system and PlayStation Eye camera detects the precise movement, angle, and absolute position in 3D space of PlayStation Move motion controller, allowing users to intuitively play the game as if they themselves are within the game. PlayStation Move motion controller delivers unmatched accuracy through its advanced motion sensors, including a three-axis gyroscope, a three-axis accelerometer, and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor, as well as a color-changing sphere that is tracked by PlayStation Eye camera. Through PlayStation Move system, both fast and subtle motion can be detected, whether the user is swinging a tennis racket, or painting with a brush. With PlayStation Move motion controller, users can provide direct input through action buttons and an analog trigger, while receiving physical feedback from rumble functionality and visual feedback from the sphere’s ability to display a variety of different colors. Furthermore, PlayStation Eye camera can capture the player’s voice or image, enabling augmented reality experiences.

The newly announced PlayStation Move sub-controller is a one-handed controller, developed to further expand the game play options that PlayStation Move games can offer*2. PlayStation Move sub-controller features a sleek curved design that pairs with the motion controller and comes with an analog stick and directional buttons that allow users to easily control the game when moving characters or choosing a direction. Like all other Wireless Controllers for the PS3 system, it comes with a built in lithium-ion rechargeable battery as well as Bluetooth® technology, enabling the controller to transfer the input information wirelessly to the PS3 system without a cable. PlayStation Move motion controller and sub-controller will further broaden the gaming experience on the PS3 system for all genres, from games that use one motion controller to games that use both controllers.

Noisia - BBC Essential Mix (12/03/2010)

Noisia are probably the most exciting crew in Drum & Bass and Electronic music right now...Every track I've been sent has been banging, especially their remixes...I'd go as far to say that their version of Foreign Beggars' "Contact" was easily the best remix of 2009.

Featuring tracks from their forthcoming album, "Split The Atom, plus a selection of unreleased heat, as well as some classic tracks from the likes of Daft Punk & Mr. Oizo, this is well worth checking out.

Nike SB “Wallenberg” Dunk Low

Another solid design from Nike SB, which is inspired by the iconic Wallenberg steps outside Raoul Wallenberg Alternative School in San Francisco. Designer Bob Kronbauer breaks down the significance of the shoe's design, as well as the choice of colours and matierials:

The Palm Tree at the foot of the 2nd step of the Big 4 at Raoul Wallenberg Alternative School in San Francisco has played a supporting role in skateboarding since 1990. My Nike SB Dunk Low colorway is inspired by this little tree’s “Twenty Year Anniversary” in 2010/2011. Throughout the mid 90’s the tree made in appearance in most of the best skate videos of the era. Dudes were getting tech using the bottom stair as a low ledge and the second stair as a high ledge. The tree grew. In the early 2000’s people started hucking themselves down the 4, pulling tricks that would have been impressive down the first stair ten years earlier. Over the decade the tree has grown larger, like the skating going on around it. The colorway draws a palette from the palm tree itself while utilizing hemp for the Swoosh. The white midsole represents the step and has a visible “waxed ledge” around the top of it, just like that step at Wallenberg. Lastly, the insoles each contain a pixelated image of the palm tree itself, giving a nod to all of the times it has appeared in skate videos over the years.
