Lord of The Mics 3: Sox Vs. Kozzie?
Continuing the Lord Of The Mics 3 hype sessions, Sox has decided to call out Kozzie, also dissing Tre Mission in the process.
I can't front, Sox has got some pretty good bars. However, he does seem to lack the hype and energy that Kozzie has. This could be very interesting...
I agree with Hit The Floor though, a three-way clash between Tre Mission, Kozzie and Sox would be dope.

Lastly, I'll be at Camp Bestival with Yas on the Sunday. Hopefully Monday will be my day of rest.

Family Tree 002: Stay True / Gold Card Soul
Fresh off the back of their 001 release, which saw support from the likes of Rod Azlan and Mistajam, Family Tree’s second release features newcomer Ed Cheeno and Dubstep duo The Squadron, which will be available this Friday (29th July) from all good digital outlets.
Consisting of a warping bassline and vocal samples, Stay True is a sweet little roller, which will no doubt sound epic on a loud system.
TREE-002: The Squadron - Stay True by FamilyTreeRecords
The B-side comes courtesy of Ed Cheeno, who delivers a warm, spacey-style track; complete with lush synths and warm texutres - just in time for those summer nights.

The Amazing Spider Man (Movie Trailer)
Whilst I was a big fan of Sam Raimi's movies (with the exception of Spider Man 3. That sucked), this looks like it could be a decent reboot. As long as there's no cheesy dance scene, I'll be happy.
P.S. Venom needs his own movie.

DJ Cable - Triangulum Show on Sub FM (18/07/11)
...so I started a new show on Sub FM this Monday...
I'd been toying with the idea of carrying on with the podcasts for a while, but due to other projects/touring/etc, I never really had the time to sit down and produce a polished, 60+ minute mix on a regular basis. I figured I needed some kind of motivation/purpose to do this.
The opportunity arose to have a show on Sub Fm, and I thought this would be the perfect plan. Broadcasting every Monday from 12pm to 2pm GMT, expect to hear a selection of Dubstep/Grime/Electronica (and some Hip Hop) that I'm currently feeling, showcasing new music, classic material, and stuff that's also currently available to purchase.
The first show is now up for download, and features a varied selection of all things 140bpm, along with a few tasty dubs too.
Make sure you also subscribe to my iTunes podcast, where they will also be uploaded every week. You can then get them delivered to your digital doorstep on the regular. Simples.

Footwork Jungle...
Following on from my previous post about Juke music, and the tune which I recently made with Fused Forces, I thought I'd share this with you lot...
Footwork Jungle Vol.2 by Phillip D Kick
I remember seeing this online a few weeks ago and thinking to myself, "ahh, I need to post this!" Alas, I totally forgot. Anyhow, this chap called Phillip D Kick has nicely reworked a bunch of classic Jungle tunes into a set of footwork-friendly anthems. Amongst them you can find the likes of Adam F's "Circles", Q Project's "Champion Sound", Omni Trio's "Renegade Snares", and even LTJ Bukem reworked into a frenzy of skippy 808 drum patterns.
Footwork Jungle Vol.1 by Phillip D Kick
Although the tunes have reached their download limit on Soundcloud, you can still download Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 via Mediafire. Expect to hear some of these on my radio show next week!

DJ Cable x Fused Forces "Whip It"
One genre that's caught my attention over the past couple of years has been Juke/Footwork music. Whilst I'd never really dabbled in producing any, I've recently been inspired to start experimenting since hearing Addison Groove's music, which bridges the gaps between Miami Bass, Juke and Dubstep.
There's something about rapid 808 drums and chopped vocals that really appeal to me. Here's something I recently cooked up with my good friends Fused Forces

100 Akres - Ugly Boombox Beat Tape (Limited Cassette)
Shouts to FreshNerd, who has just released a new beat tape...on cassette!
Ugly Boombox is the first of the limited edition series of cassettes available from 100 Akres (only 30 available...hand numbered). All of these brand new bangers are inspired by big drums and my fetish for flipping samples. Basically anything that I'd want to hear on Radio Raheem's boombox is on this project. The sound bites throughout the tape also go on to explain the importance of the boombox to our culture. Experience a beat tape the way it was originally intended....on tape.
For those that don't own a tape deck or walkman, there will be a FREE digital version included with purchase.

Rival "Biscuits EP"
Rival comes through with a strong 10 track EP. According to the internets, the reason this release is called "Biscuits" is because that's his favourite food. It's still yet to be confirmed whether he prefers digestives, custard creams, hobnobs, or jammy dodgers....I digress...
Whilst there are plenty of riddims to satisfy the Grime/Bass music heads, Rival's thrown in a few quality Hip Hop freestyles for good measure. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he chose to spit over the instrumental of Common's "The Light". Overall, it's a solid release.
P.S. Remember you can still purchase Rival's "Lock Off The Rave" from iTunes. The Darq E Freaker remix has been causing mayhem, so make sure you check that out too.

Kicking things off with a feature on Bristol's Dubstep and House scenes, this video includes interviews with the likes of Pinch, Peverelist and Appleblim, as well as Hyetal and Julio Bashmore. The filming and editing on this is superb.
Oh, I didn't even know until watching it that Rooted Records has sadly closed its doors too. It's crazy to think that when I lived there in '02 to '05, there were a whole wealth of record spots throughout the city. Sad times.
