Classic Tracks: Masterminds "Bring It Back"
Something for the indie Hip Hop fans here...
I first got put onto this joint after hearing the Scratch Vol. 1 compilation, which came out on Rawkus back in '01. The compilation featured an awesome tracklisting of current and classic Hip Hop tracks from the like of Main Source, A Tribe Called Quest, Lovebug Starski, Souls Of Mischief, KMD, J-Live, and Original Flavour's "Can I Get Open" (which featured a classic verse from a young Jay-Z).
This track however, from Masterminds and Mr. Khaliyl (aka Mr. Man from Da Bush Babees) was one of the compilation's highlights. Everything from the production, to the lyrics and flow is top notch; a quality slice of independent Hip Hop. Unfortunately I ended up losing my copy of "Scratch Vol. 1", and it wasn't until a few years later that I managed to pick up their "Underground Railroad" LP on vinyl, which is a pretty solid release.
If you can track down a copy of their album, or a copy of Scratch Vol. 1 you won't be disappointed.

Rapid "Go Rapid" (Music Video)
It's not everyday you get a talented producer who has also got skills on the mic. Ruff Sqwad's Rapid is one of my favourite producers within the Grime scene, and it looks like he's now set to fully establish himself as a solo artist. For a debut video, this is a strong look.
I need a 320 of this immediately!

Definitely a solid track, and a welcome return from Oakland's finest.

DJ Cable "Mixin It Up" for Discobelle.net
Shouts to Discobelle for giving me the opportunity to do a mix for their Mixin' It Up series, which has been graced by loads of other great DJs such as Bok Bok, Dave Nada and Drop The Lime, to name a few...If you don't know about Discobelle, they're one of the internet's leading dance music blogs, and have been highly influential when it comes to breaking new music.
For this mix, I decided to go with a selection of Dubstep & Grime tracks (both old and new) that I’m into at the moment, accompanied with a tiny bit of scratching here and there; Nothing too intricate though, as I wanted the tunes to speak for themselves.
You can also peep the full post here to see my reasons behind each choice. I hope you all enjoy the mix :)

Scorcher Feat. Terminator "Spartan Gang" (CDQ)
I posted a Youtube clip of this on the blog a few weeks ago...and have been fiending for an MP3 ever since. Logan Sama kindly leaked this monster of a tune earlier today @ 192kbps...
However, after digging around online, I've managed to find the full CDQ @ 320kbps; This easily has to be one of the best beats of 2009...If you're feeling this, go support Scorcher and purchase his album, "Concrete Jungle". It's alot.

Elucid "The Sub Bass Diet"
I've been looking forward to this project for a while now!
I originally got put on to Elucid's music via RTD earlier this year, and since then have been steadily supporting his material...Taking influence from 8 bit sounds, Reggae, Dubstep and Experimental sounds, "The Sub Bass Diet" is an awesome fusion of Hip Hop & Electronica.
Tracks like "Lazer Days" show his ability to flow effortlessly over Dubstep, and also showcase the fact that unlike some MCs who have jumped on the genre (Snoop Dogg, anyone?), Elucid doesn't need to dumb down his content...Other standout tracks on this project include "My Mayor Is a Billionaire", where he goes in hard over Joker's "Digidesign"...Don't sleep!

Crazy things on Twitter: @IndustryHater
Following on from the demise of Grimebitch's blog (due to Chipmunk's lawyers throwing a hissy fit and shutting it down allegedly), the latest profile to cause controversy on Twitter is the aptly titled IndustryHater, whose tweets mainly consist of firing shots at artists, DJs, bloggers etc within the UK music scene...
Is he/she an alias? Is it Grimebitch under a different name? Is this just a wind up? Or is it simply someone with too much time on their hands? Answers on a post card please...
True, if people are "hating" on your movements as an artist, then yes it can be said that do care about what you're doing. Whether you choose to get worked up about it, or just simply brush it off is up to you...

Seal "Crazy" (Metaphase Dubwise Remix)
There have been a lot of crap Dubstep remixes and cheesy bootlegs doing the rounds recently. It seems that all of a sudden, it's cool to take a Garage anthem or a club classic, pitch it up to 140bpm and put a shit-sounding LFO bass over the top...On the other hand, one of the great things about Dubstep is that there's so much room for experimentation...be it drawing from different musical influences, or thinking waaaaaay outside the box. Such as this remix...
Now, you may be thinking, "Seal over Dubstep?! Now this must sound disgusting!" Far from it; it's lovely. Trust me on this one.
You can check out Metaphase's Myspace here

David Guetta Feat. Estelle "One Love" Remixes
We all know David Guetta for his recent chart-topper featuring Akon (which admittedly, was pretty catchy), and also that cheesy piano-driven bullshit with Kelly Rowland..So I was a bit skeptical when I stumbled upon these remixes. Can Shy FX and Breakage really do this tune (which also happens to be shit) any justice?
The Shy FX isn't too bad. It's got that mainstream D&B vibe for the main part, but then drops into a Dubstep-ish section for the latter part of the song. It's not really my style of D&B, but for the more commercial clubs, and also as a transition tool from Dubstep to D&B (and vice versa) for DJs, it'll do okay...
The Breakage remix, however, is fairly solid. Again, this is another girl-friendly remix which will do well in mainstream venues, but is still worth checking out as it's got a nice laid back vibe.
Get: "One Love" (Shy FX Remix)
Get: "One Love" (Breakage Remix)
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before David Guetta teams up with someone like Sean Paul for yet another urban electro smash hit *rolls eyes*

Classic Tracks: Dipset "I Really Mean It"
So I'm back with another installment of the Classic Tracks feature. I've had this track on repeat for most of today, and given that I'm a big Dipset fan, I thought it was only right to post this up...Dipset know how to make those street bangers.
Who cares if Cam'Ron rocks a purple fur coat in the summer? Who cares if Santana shouts "Ay!" over half of their entire back catalgogue? And who cares if they've sampled cheesy 80's rock (Jefferson Starship, for example)? Allow it; "Diplomatic Immunity" is a heavy album...
