Classic Tracks: Masterminds "Bring It Back"

Something for the indie Hip Hop fans here...

I first got put onto this joint after hearing the Scratch Vol. 1 compilation, which came out on Rawkus back in '01. The compilation featured an awesome tracklisting of current and classic Hip Hop tracks from the like of Main Source, A Tribe Called Quest, Lovebug Starski, Souls Of Mischief, KMD, J-Live, and Original Flavour's "Can I Get Open" (which featured a classic verse from a young Jay-Z).

This track however, from Masterminds and Mr. Khaliyl (aka Mr. Man from Da Bush Babees) was one of the compilation's highlights. Everything from the production, to the lyrics and flow is top notch; a quality slice of independent Hip Hop. Unfortunately I ended up losing my copy of "Scratch Vol. 1", and it wasn't until a few years later that I managed to pick up their "Underground Railroad" LP on vinyl, which is a pretty solid release.

If you can track down a copy of their album, or a copy of Scratch Vol. 1 you won't be disappointed.
