It's always good to hear US cats spit over Dubstep, and Elucid's one of the few I've heard who can do it well...
Taken from his forthcoming project Super Chocolate Black Simian (which is due out 11th January), this teaser sees him flip tracks from Breakage and Jamie Vex'd, showing off his lyrical skills...
I've been looking forward to this project for a while now!
I originally got put on to Elucid's music via RTD earlier this year, and since then have been steadily supporting his material...Taking influence from 8 bit sounds, Reggae, Dubstep and Experimental sounds, "The Sub Bass Diet" is an awesome fusion of Hip Hop & Electronica.
Tracks like "Lazer Days" show his ability to flow effortlessly over Dubstep, and also showcase the fact that unlike some MCs who have jumped on the genre (Snoop Dogg, anyone?), Elucid doesn't need to dumb down his content...Other standout tracks on this project include "My Mayor Is a Billionaire", where he goes in hard over Joker's "Digidesign"...Don't sleep!
Elucid is definitely one of the few artists out there who is properly bridging the gap between Hip Hop & Dubstep (As I've said before, allow that Snoop Dogg Millionaire crap). If you haven't yet copped his Bear Trapz EP (which is still on constant rotation), or his sick freestyle over DJ Mondie's "Pull Up Dat", I suggest you go check them out.
Anyhow, he's back with another banger, produced by Metabeats. Nothing much to say except it's straight heat. Turn this one up loud!

This mini EP sees Elucid going in over a couple of Caspa and N-Type joints, offering a solid alternative to the dumbed-down lyrics over Dubstep tracks such as "Snoop Dogg Millionaire" or "Mad House", proving that there is room for progressive MC-ing within this scene...It's all about "Yum Yum"...
Just got hit with some heat new heat from Elucid, who I should hopefully be working with at some point soon...

However, my favourite of the two is 40D's, where Elucid goes in over a a DJ Mondie edit. Major BIG UPS for using "Pull Up Dat" for this one. Easily one of my favourite Grime joints of all time.
