Air Jordan 1 Phat Low - White & Chlorophyll Polka Dots

These are a lot!

Great use of chlorophyll green on the upper panels, laces, outsole and accents. Due for an official release in June, but you can cop them now from Kinetics

Atmos "Doughnut" T-Shirt

Fresh new tees from Atmos

These make me want to hit up Greggs (or Baker's Oven - whoever's closest) and grab some iced doughnuts...Real talk...

Nike Auto Flight

Great hybrid shoe from Nike, who now seem to be turning once-popular old school basketball shoes into more casual attire.

Similar to the Nike RT1, the sneakers have taken on a more fashion-based approach; leather uppers, and substituting the original basketball midsoles for a more vulcanised offering, similar to the midsole of a Nike Blazer.

Supposedly scheduled for release during the 2009 Holiday season, with other colorways sure to follow.

Definitely much nicer (and classier!) than those awful AFJ's that have been polluting the shelves at numerous outlets!

Loudmouth Melvin "My Top 10 List" (Music Video)

New heat from Loudmouth, who lists his top 10 mc in the UK, plus his top 10 djs, female mcs and underrated mcs. Whilst I agree with the majority of picks, I don't think Bizzle should have been at no. 3, but that's just my opinion...

Who's in your top 10?

Classic Tracks: Baby Feat. Clipse "What Happened To That Boy" (Video)

Inspired by hearing last week's interview with Westwood & Baby/Birdman (and after seeing this video up on Dun Know Da Blogspot), I thought I'd throw this up in a Classic Tracks post.

Whilst Baby's verse isn't the greatest, this still remains one of the best Clipse joints of all time, even though it's guest feature... Seriously, Pusha killed it on this one:

"...another soul lost/had to make his shirt match my oxblood-coloured Porsche..."

Latest Sneaker Purchases

If you've been stopping by the blog on a regular basis, you'll know that I'm into trainers (that's sneakers, for all you transatlantic readers) in a pretty big way. As I'm normally posting up about forthcoming releases, I thought I'd start including my latest purchases...The following are from last week...

First up, a pair of Air Max 1s. I'm really big on runners, and these will most likely be my beaters for the spring/summer period.

Second, another pair of Air Max 1's - The "Super Safaris". The alternate colour (beige/brown) is nice, but I thought these would be a good purchase for the summer. A bit daring for some, but will go nicely with a plain tee. I'll most likely sit on these until July/August...

Next up, a pair of white/varsity green Vandals. I bought a pair similar to these (white/varsity red) at some random Nike outlet in France for €30 a few years back, but completely f*cked them up at a warehouse party. I'd been after something similar for a while, so was happy when I spotted these in Footlocker.

Lastly, I also got a pair of Converse Allstars from the girlfriend for my birthday (seeing as I've trashed my last pair). You know what they look like anyway...

Next on the list: Air Flight Lites, Air Yeezys, and Nike SB Blazer Highs...

DJ I-Dee Presents: "$7.00 Drops" (Video)

LOL!

The homie DJ I-Dee (DMC US Champ, Gong Battle World Champion) is not only a sick turntablist; he's also pretty dope at comedy, and doing voices (his Gollum impression is straight fire...Real talk!)

And now for a limited time only, you too can get some personalised drops, all for the special offer of $7.00

Being Charlie Sloth: Episode 27 (Video)

This week features DJ Sarah Love, Cash Money's Baby/Birdman, Slim & Jay Sean, and UK Hip Hop legend Rodney P.

I gotta agree with Code Blue, the manager killed it on this one!

"Shorts and shoes look pukka together!"

Bassnectar "Superstylin Smashup"

To help with the promotion of the Art Of Revolution Tour this spring, Bassnectar have thrown up a ridiculously sick bootleg of Groove Armada's "Superstylin" for free. Don't sleep!

Shamelessly swiped from Rock The Dub

BONUS! Footage from their 2008 Fall/Autumn tour. Looks mad, no?

DQM x New Era "Basic" Fitted Caps

Not much to comment on; DQM offers a bunch of New Era caps for their spring collection. Basic, but very clean!

That orange joint is the one!

P.S. If anyone's selling a pair of deadstock DQM Air Max 90's in a UK 9/US 10, get at me! I missed out on them...

Britain's Got Talent...It's The DJ Talent! (Video)

Shout out to Mistajam for the heads up. 30 year old Admin Assistant Andy aka DJ Talent was one of the latest acts to step up on stage on this week's Britain's Got Talent...All I can say is wow...Just..,wow...

Homie duppied the disco good & proper though! Gotta love the call & response: "I say Britain...You say Talent!" Those are some big boy bars! I might need to re-evaluate my game plan...

Oh yeh, check out the grill, and gold chains as well! As Capo would say, "BALLLLLLLLLLINNNNNNNN!" Ahem...

DJ Semtex: Mixtape No. 5

Aside from having a dope radio show, Semtex's mixtape game is also tight. I remember his "Cold As Ice" mix from back in the day, which is classic.

This mix from the mid 90's sports a sick selection of independent & underground Hip Hop from the likes of Big Noyd, D&D Allstars, Channel Live, plus tracks from the likes of Busta, Redman and Lord Finesse...Don't sleep!

Shouts to DJ MK for posting this one up. I may have to liberate that "Cold As Ice" mix sometime soon...

Classic Tracks: Craig Mack "Flava In Ya Ear" (Video)

Inspired by the Biggie interview that I recently posted up, I had to follow it up with a "Classic Tracks" post. This is one of my favourite joints from back in the day...I was gonna post the Bad Boy remix, but unfortunately it wasn't up on the 'tube. Par!

Anyhow, sit back and enjoy this quality slice of 90's Hip Hop...

There's also an interview with Kanye on 106 & Park after the video which is worth watching.

DJ Cable Recommends: Vista

...the Dubstep producer that is, not the gashworthy piece of software that can be found on Windows-based PCs...Ahem...

The latest release on Scruffy Hoodlum (distributed through Nu Urban) sees this monster of a track, backed with "Guesswork"; a lovely chilled/mellow number, which is reminiscent of the 2-step era, and brings with it that feeling of nostalgia. The third track, "Ripple", is more on the techno-sounding side of things, giving us a varied release, which is what makes the Scruffy Hoodlum label one to watch out for in 2009.

The great thing about Vista is his versatility as a producer; the fact that his latest release is so varied (and incredibly sick) shows to me that he's up there with the best of them. But yeh, "Forcefield" has been completely destroying the rave whenever I've dropped it!

The 12" should be out any day now at all good record stores, so make sure you go pick up a copy.

Oh, and as a bonus, here's some more forthcoming heat, which is just plain filth....

For more info, check out Vista's Myspace

BONUS! Some Fused Forces heat from last year. Just check out those drums!

Big ups to Fused Forces every time! Expect a DJ Cable/Scruffy Hoodlum collabo real soon...

Nike Air Max 95 "Hot Red" Colourway

I'm all over these!

The Air Max 95 has seen a re-release of both O.G. and new colourways over the past 12 months. Similar to the Comet Reds, although sporting a slightly darker shade, these tick all the right boxes.

Happy Birthday!

(its a birthday cake)

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday DJ Cable,
Happy birthday to you.

That's right, its the 21st of April, and that means one more candle on the cake for DJ Cable. That's 25 years in the game today!

I figure that Cable's not quite narcissistic enough to post on his own blog about his own birthday, so I figured I better step up to the plate. I wasn't sure if he'd mind me drawing attention to the fact he's finally hit the quarter century mark (ouch!), but he mentioned his birthday in one of his other posts a while ago, so hopefully I wont get my blogging privileges revoked. More importantly, I realised that he'd been calling me Toddlertron for about as long as I can remember, so it's not like I owe him any favours when it comes down to age-related banter...

If you see Cable out and about this week (Wednesday @ Optic in Norwich, Thursday @ Liquid in Ipswich, Saturday @ Liquid in Colchester) be sure to buy the man a drink (can you say dirty pint?) and request some Lady Gaga.

All raise your glasses for DJ Cable, many happy returns bro!

Clipse Feat. Kanye West "Kinda Like A Big Deal"

Supposedly taken from the forthcoming album, "Till The Casket Drops", Clipse are back with this banger, produced by DJ Khalil. Not much to comment on, except this is big! From the production (that guitar lick is heavy), down to the lyrics, it's all straight fire.

Malice & Pusha are both on point, whilst a College Dropout-sounding Kanye also goes in hard. Braggadocio rap at its finest:

"I'm like the black Marshall meets Jay[-Z]"

This definitely makes up for the erm...not so good Re-Up Gang album from last year.

This week, Charlie supports Flo Rida, has a meeting with ASCAP, and makes an appearance on Semtex's radio show.

Show Me The Blackberry! (Video)

"If you ain't got a pin it's a Facebook ting!" FLOL!

For a pisstake, this is actually pretty catchy. Although I'm sure it won't be long before someone swagger jacks this and we get another remedial dance such as the "Blackberry Skank", or something similar...

On a side note, Miss London aka "the princess of comedy" doesn't look too bad...I think it's the spandex...erm, yeah...

Via Dun Know Da Blogspot

BONUS! Maxwell D & LIl Silva "Blackberry Hype"

Sadly, this isn't a pisstake. The only good thing about this is the Lil Silva beat.

Classic 80's TV: "Knightmare" (Video)

I'm gonna be 25 this Tuesday (yeh, a quarter-of-a-century old...parr!) so I've spent the best part of this weekend reminiscing on what I grew up with in the 80's & 90's. On of which being the game show "Knightmare", which used to be on CITV. In short, the contestants had to guide their friend (blindfolded by wearing a ridiculous nordic helmet...erm...yeah...) through a series of obstacles and puzzles...

The graphics were pretty good for its time, plus the intro was dope as well...

This had to be one of the illest shows on TV back in the day, apart from Funhouse...which was the shit, hands down...

BONUS! Came across this blooper as well, which made me laugh out loud.

"You were never very good at maneuvering, were you?" LOL

Stones Throw Records x Stussy T-Shirts

Migraine Skank (Video)

I posted this up a while back. I wasn't really feeling it at first, but yeh, it's grown on me. A lot in fact. It's actually quite big!

Although I won't be doing the dance, purely because I can't dance in general. That's why I'm a DJ...

Dizzee Rascal "Bonkers" (Music Video)

I have the feeling that this joint will be this year's "Day N Nite".

On the real, I wasn't too keen on the track at first, but I'm gradually warming to it...

Dirty Smart (Fashion)

Many of you will have heard of Dirty Smart clothing, some of you may not. For those of you that don't know, Dirty Smart is probably the freshest music-based clothing label right now. Launching little more than a month ago, it has already received acclaim in Mixmag as top t-shirt of the month, and also (less inspiringly) in Zoo Magazine.

The apparel label is backed by big musical names such as Bodyrox, Hoxton Whores, Funk Agenda, Bass Weazal, Trophy Twins, and Joshua Roberts and is marketing itself as 'the electro-house clothing label', with most of its designs featuring musical references.

Dirty Smart are currently running a competition to win a free trip to Ibiza, all you have to do is buy a t-shirt between now and May 30th and your name will be entered into the prize draw. T-shirts themselves are reasonably priced at £25 each but for a special "DJCable.blogspot exclusive" enter the voucher code "djjuxtaposer" for an extra 10% off! Who says we don't look after you?

Fabriclive 45 - DJ A-Trak

Fabric
is more than a club and a record label; its a musical institution. Thousands of ravers flock to the club every night it opens its doors and its played host to some of the world's hottest DJs and biggest parties. With the heads behind Fabric opening up Matter, it seems undeniable that they know exactly what they're doing.

But the purpose of this post isn't to champion Fabric, its to talk about a DMC Champion; DJ A-trak. A-Trak (Alain Macklovitch) became the youngest ever DMC Champion in 1997, aged just 15 and at the time was also the first Canadian champion.

Enough history for today though, its all about his new mix release; Fabriclive 45.

The tracklist features an eclectic mix of genres and styles, alongside all of the expected A-Trak releases (Shake It Down, Say Whoa, etc). The mix itself is creative with some nice juggles and tricks, most noticably on his remix of Boys Noize's Daft Punk-inspired "Oh!". I won't say too much about the mix as I think its best that you all go out, right now, buy it and listen to it...loud.

Tracklist

1. Say Whoa/You Can't Hide From Your Bud - A-Trak/DJ Sneak
2. Oh! - Boys Noize (A-Trak Remix)
3. Mothership Reconnection - Scott Grooves
4. Get On Down - Voodoo Chilli
5. Sweet Mother - Skepta
6. I'm The Ish - DJ Class
7. Heartbreaker - Metronomy
8. Peep Thong - His Majesty Andre
9. Forza - Zombie Nation
10. Aurora - Gopher, Alex
11. AA 24-7 - Dance Area
12. Move Move - Rivera, Robbie
13. Church Of Nonsense - Papini, Daniele
14. Shake It Down - Laidback Luke & A-Trak
15. Acid Life - Nacho Lovers
16. Chase, The - DJ Rob 3
17. Paris - Friendly Fires
18. Veronica's Veil - Fan Death
19. Plastik - Baker, Simon
20. Tobacco Ties - Martian
21. Juke Dat Girl From The Back - DJ Gant Man
22. Book Is On The Table, The - DJ MP4
23. Body Jackin' - Anderson, Jamie & Content
24. Do Dat - Raffertie
25. 138 Trek - DJ Zinc

Tomorrow Night in Birmingham...

I'll be spinning at The Rainbow in Birmingham @ "Goonies". I'll be joined by Rossi B & Luca, and Klose One.

Expect everything from Hip Hop, to Dubstep, UK Funky, Electro Grime, UKG & more! Basically, big basslines and lot of wobbliness....

If you're in the area, round up a few friends, come down any say "hello". Just don't f*cking ask for any Lady Gaga. Or there will be trouble.

Being Charlie Sloth: Episode 25 (Video)

Yeh, I've been pretty slack at posting these up over the past couple of weeks. I'm sure you can cope with it.

Anyhow, this week sees Charlie and the manager (easily the best character) take a trip to Rotterdam. Guest stars include Bishop Lamont, Fredro Starr and the legend that is MC Shan!

"Prototype" Game Trailer (Video)

This looks f*cking insane!

Ben Drury x Dizzee Rascal Nike Air Max 90

The only pink sneakers I've owned were the Dunkles (which I resold for a hefty profit...Get in!), and some neapolitan Bapestas, which I only just broke out the other day after being put on ice for the best part of 18 months. Apart from that, I'm not much of a fan of pink garms. Well...I did own a salmon polo-shirt once, but then I realised I looked like a neek...Like one of those idiots you see in town, who most likely spends their Saturday nights @ Yates or Edwards, downing Stella and dancing like a twat to Ultrabeat. Or Akon. Ahem...

Anyhow, this new collaboration between Dizzee & British designer Ben Drury looks pretty hot. According to Drury, the sneakers feature premium materials and sport a clear sole...

No word on release date, or quantity as of yet...Although I'm hoping that it won't be some on "friends & family" ish.

Griminal Vs. Tempa T @ Eskimo Dance (Video)

By the looks of things, it all kicked off after the whole "suck your mum" line. From the rumours circulating 'pon di web (namely Pure Grime) Tempz ended up bottling Griminal. I'm sure more videos will surface later on...

SMH @ MCs still getting upset over something like "suck your mum"? Just goes to show that people still take shit too seriously...

Deadmau5 "I Remember" (Caspa Remix)

Dubstep is a many headed beast, drawing on a load of diverse musical influences in different ways. Caspa's latest remix sees dubstep going off in another direction and the creation of what some people are calling "Balearic Dubstep" (Oh good, another sub-genre...thank god).

Quite a nice idea, and could make the possibility of dubstep taking off on the White Isle more feasible, particularly if people start double dropping/blending the tracks with House music, like Zane Lowe did on his Radio 1 show (Check out the radio rip here)

Scratching on the VCI-300 (Video)

I knew you could rock simple juggles and stuff, but I didn't realise the fader & the platters were that good!

This may have to be added to the ever-growing list of purchases, although I get enough shit from drunk people about not being a "real DJ" for using Scratch Live... LOL

P.S. Those cuts are sick, btw.

Cassie, What Have You Done...

Not a good look at all...Parr!

Although I still wouldn't say no...

DJ Cable Guest Mix on BBC Asian Network

It's been a pretty exciting week so far. On top of having 5 shows to do, and Serato Video-SL arriving in the post, I also had a guest mix aired on DJ Kayper's show on BBC Asian Network, as part of the Hype "Mixtape Challenge".

For those that don't know, each week Kayper does the "Mixtape Challenge" on her show, where she challenges a DJ to fit 3 or 4 Desi tracks into a 15 minute mix of any genre; be it cutting them up, remixing/re-editing them, etc...In other words, you gotta be creative!

Previous DJs who've taken up the challenge include Crookers, MJ Cole, DJ Craze & DJ Yoda, so I knew I had to step my game up! So as a result, this mix showcases a lot more scratching, a whole mixture of genres, and some re-editing which I've done in Ableton. I hope you enjoy it!

Oh, there's also a brief interview with me at the start too...You can all witness how...erm...monotone/quiet I am lol...

Two Fisted Tales (High Contrast) "Rushmore"

Everyone has their own way of recovering from a hangover, and one of my favourites is listening to Hospital Records podcasts. So when I woke up this morning with a hangover and food poisoning from one of Norwich's less reputable afterhours eateries, I was pretty pleased to find a brand new, extra-long podcast today with London Elektricity and High Contrast.

The podcast included all the standard 174 bpm liquid goodness that one would expect from Hospital Records but they also played out part of one of Lincoln Barrett's (High Contrast) house tunes that he's produced under the moniker of Two Fisted Tales, named after a 40s/50s comic book - not stories of a bizarre sexual nature (...sadly).

The tune, his first House release, titled "Rushmore" was officially released last month, but has been floating around for a while now, receiving massive support from musical figures including Radio 1's Annie Mac.
